Movie "The Strangers"

so i went to see this movie the other day and really it was kind of disappointing. there was some good parts in the middle of the movie that brought up some good tension within myself but really that was it. i wouldn't go see this movie again nor would i ever rent it. but the most disappointing aspect about the movie was that it said that it was inspired by true events. this morning i didn't have a lot to do so i decided to look up the story that inspired this movie. there was no one story but a combination of several different stories. so in the beginning of the movie when it said this happened in 2005 it was a big lie. part of the story happened when the writer was little from his own life experience, but this was just someone knocking on the door late at night asking if someone who didn't live there was home. then they took part of some charlie manson story and wove that in there, and also a piece of like some other story. in the end i am pissed here they say "inspired by true events" which leads people to believe (at least me and the person that i went with) that this story line kind of actually happened and the people in the movie were real people. but nope a big fat lie.
